  Microfiber Cockpit Cloth
Our best Microfiber cloth
for interior detailing.
Product review by Terry Freiberg
About a year ago, one of our
Microfiber suppliers sent me a sample of a new, plush, sheared Microfiber cloth
for evaluation. It didn't work well for wax buffing or polishing but I found it
excellent for dusting the dash, interior cleaning and buffing vinyl and leather
dressings. Unofficially, it became my favorite cloth for interior detailing. I
used it for automotive detailing but this cloth is equally well suited for boat
and RV detailing.
Six months later, this same
supplier sent me an optical-suede Microfiber cloth developed for another company
to clean plastic lenses in sunglasses. I used it with BLACKFIRE One Step,
Plastic Cleaner on the clear
plastic lens covering the instrument cluster and absolutely loved it. It left
this lens clear, bright, streak and scratch free!

A light went off! If the
factory could make a custom Microfiber cloth with a plush, loop weave on one
side and an optical-suede finish on the other, I would have the perfect interior
detailing cloth. It turns out they could, I commissioned it and here it is.
I call this my Cockpit
Cloth. It's a 80/20 Microfiber blend with a plush, sheared weave on one side
and optical-suede on the other.

Here's how I use it:
Here in Florida, my car has
aftermarket, plastic window tint film on the interior windows. I spray these
inside windows with
BLACKFIRE One-Step, Plastic Cleaner, Polish & Glaze and wipe them dry using the optical-suede (smooth)
side of the cloth. After I clean the side windows, I mist and wipe the plastic
lens that covers the instrument cluster. Next, I use
BLACKFIRE Interior
Protectant on all interior vinyl, leather and wood surfaces and buff using the
thicker, loop side of the cloth. (Always clean clear plastic surfaces first to avoid
contamination from interior dressings.) When I'm done, I machine wash this cloth
with my other Microfiber cloths and applicators using warm water, a mild laundry
detergent (no bleach or fabric softeners) and allow to air dry.

I'm really proud that I thought of
this cloth but my wife tells me that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn
occasionally!
Cloth size is 16 inches by 16
inches.
